GOLF IN HAMPSHIRE
The golf courses in Hampshire make the most of the county’s diverse landscapes. Bordering the English south coast, there are a variety of links, heathland and parkland golf courses in Hampshire that would be the envy of any county in the country. These includes the links course at Hayling, and superb heathland courses such as Stoneham and North Hants, which are all fine examples of championship golf courses in Hampshire. For whatever reason, when it comes to golfing holiday destinations, Hampshire often seems to be overlooked in favour of neighbouring counties, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Surrey and West Sussex. But Hampshire is terrific for holiday golf breaks with its plentiful offering of seaside resorts and National Parks such as The New Forest and South Downs to compliment enjoyable golfing at golf courses such as Liphook, Meon Valley and Old Thorns. The county itself is perhaps most famed for its ties to the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, and indeed there are a number military associations at golf clubs near Southampton, Portsmouth and Aldershot.
