GOLF IN NORTHUMBERLAND

The golf courses in Northumberland are becoming increasingly popular, with championship golf courses at De Vere Slaley Hall playing host to some European Tour events, and parkland golf courses like Bedlingtonshire, and Rothbury having a reputation for being hidden gems. There are over 40 golf courses in Northumberland, with a good mixture of links golf courses, private members golf clubs, and public golf courses for the beginner. The county shares its borders with Scotland, Cumbria, and Durham, and there indeed a number of golf courses near Newcastle, the traditional county town. These include the Matfen Hall, and Gosforth. The county is a superb stop off for anyone making their way to play the golf courses in Scotland, but Northumberland is a superb golfing holiday destination in its own right. The National Park has also facilitated some unspoilt views from many of the parkland golf courses in Northumberland.
