GOLF IN WILTSHIRE

Wiltshire golf courses such as Tidworth Garrison were traditionally build on downland turf, but there are now many championship parkland courses in Wiltshire with superb facilities, such as Bowood, The Manor House, and The Wiltshire. Two thirds of the county lies on chalk, meaning the golf courses in Wiltshire drain superbly, a fine example being Marlborough. There are many golf courses near Salisbury, and Swindon, and the county draws many tourists to Stonehenge, and Salibury Plain. Several national golf events in Wiltshire have been held in recent years, including the English Boys U16 Championship at High Post. Other notable golf clubs in Wiltshire include Hamptworth, and West Wilts. Wiltshire is a landlocked county that borders Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire.
