The Oceânico World Kids Golf Championship will be held from the 23rd to 27th July 2012 on Oceânico Golf’s world class golf courses in the Algarve region of Portugal. The Amendoeira Golf Resort will serve as the headquarters for the event. With two fantastic golf courses, an incredible clubhouse and accommodation on site the event could not be more fun, organized and relaxing for our golfing families.
The competition will be for boys aged 7 to 18 years old and girls aged 8 to 18 years old. The child’s age on June 30th 2012 will determine their entry category.

Shuttle buses will run between Oceânico’s Amendoeira and Vilamoura courses for the duration of the event. A schedule will be posted on the website and at each clubhouse during the event.
The entry fee includes three rounds of golf, one practice round on the day prior to the start of the tournament, tee prizes, tickets to the opening and closing ceremonies and buffet lunch for three days. (Additional tickets for opening and closing dinners may be purchased in advance). Entry fees range from €100 to €225. Please refer to the website for exact entry information. In summary, boys and girls aged 10 to 18 will play 18 holes/day; boys and girls aged 9 and under will play 9 holes/day.
Categories 12 & under play Stableford Gross & Net. Categories 13 & over play Stroke Play Gross & Net. Categories Boys and Girls 7-9 will play 9 holes per day on the Oceânico O´Connor Jnr. course (will be playing Holes 1 to 6 and 16 to 18 ). Categories Boys 8 -12 years and Girls 8 -18 will play the Oceânico O´Connor Jnr. course. Categories boys 13-18 years old will play the Oceânico Faldo Course. Handicap and scoring requirements are in place only to help serve as a guideline as to whether or not a child is ready to play. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age category by gender.
Handicap and Scoring Guidelines
This tournament is open to all children with divisions determined by age and gender. Girls & Boys Aged under 10 suggested handicap max. 36 scoring equivalent 55 for 9 holes or 105 for 18 holes. Age under 12 & 14 suggested handicap max. 24 scoring equivalent 48 for 9 holes or 95 for 18 holes. Age under 16 & 18 suggested handicap max. 18 scoring equivalent 45 for 9 holes or 90 for 18 holes. If the player does not carry a current handicap index he/she may provide a record of recent scores attested by a PGA/LPGA professional (minimum of 5 scores). Children aged 8 and under are required to take a caddy. Older players are not required but encouraged to have a caddy. Caddies are not provided by the golf club, please feel free to make your own arrangements. Handicaps will be officially accountable both nationally and internationally and category under 18 will earn points to the World Amateur Golf Ranking.
