Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club, Marriott Golf UK’s flagship venue in Birmingham, will be welcoming the European Senior Tour to its fairways this October with the inaugural English Senior Masters.
The tournament will take place from the 20th – 22nd October and will see some of the game’s greatest, senior golfers battling it out at the elegant West Midlands resort.
“We’re honoured to have a tour event back at Forest of Arden, it’s a testament to the great level of golf we have on offer here. The event will complement our already rich tournament heritage following our hosting of the British Masters and English Open from 1993-2005,” commented Fraser Liston, Director of Golf at Forest of Arden.
“We look forward to welcoming the European Senior Tour along with all the players in October and hope to see lots of local support for the event,” he continued.
Home-grown English hero Peter Baker, who was part of the European Ryder Cup team in 1993, will be making his over-50s debut at the inaugural English Senior Masters.
It will also be an emotional return to Forest of Arden for fellow Englishman and former Ryder Cup player, Barry Lane, who won the British Masters at the venue back in 2004.
Forest of Arden has had a brilliant start to 2017, having already enjoyed being named Today’s Golfer’s Best Golf Hotel in the East and Midlands, as well as the Arden course being voted best course in the region above 75 competitors in a poll of thousands of Midland golfers.
Set in 10,000 acres of Warwickshire parkland, the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel and Country Club boasts two, 18-hole golf courses with the ability to challenge golfers of all abilities. The championship Arden Course has played host to a succession of European Tour events, with golfing greats such as Colin Montgomerie and Darren Clarke being crowned victorious on its fairways.
