Moortown GC was founded in 1909, and designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie (who also designed Augusta National, Cypress Point, and Royal Melbourne, among others).
Host of the first Ryder Cup match on British soil, in 1929, Moortown is widely regarded as one of the finest inland golf courses in the country, and it has hosted many professional and amateur tournaments over the last century.
The course is set in 175 acres of dramatically contrasting woodland and moorland. From the opening par 5 there are many superb holes to enjoy, not least the difficult 6th, and the famous 'Gibraltar' par 3 10th with its sloping plateau green. Typical of all great courses, the 18th provides a classic finish.
Corporate and Society Golf Days are available to be booked directly from £49.00 per person.
Valid from 01/10/2018
Valid to Until Further Notice
Alwoodley and Moortown are only half a mile apart and their histories remain intertwined. Both courses are staples in GB&I top 100 courses lists and they offer enduring examples of MacKenzies design principles.
A new stay-and-play package allows you to experience two Top 100 courses in one trip.
For £175, play one course on a Sunday afternoon, stay overnight at the nearby four-star Weetwood Hotel and then play the second course the following morning.
The price includes breakfast and is based on two people sharing a room.
