Silloth on Solway Golf Club at Silloth on Solway Golf Club in Cumbria

Silloth on Solway Golf Club

Situated on the linksland west of the docks at Silloth, Wigton, Cumbria, the golf course at Silloth on Solway has evolved significantly over time. David Grant laid out the original course, with later contributions from Dr Alister MacKenzie and Willie Park Junior. A number of blind holes are still in play, and there is a source of uncertainty, surprise and occasional delight for golfers playing the famous links. Iconic holes include: the ninth, a par 3 played from an elevated tee; the par 5 thirteenth; and the 18th that requires an accurate drive to the fairway, and a long approach. The fairways play over the springiest of Cumbrian turf, and their undulating features meander through the dunes offering a true test of links golf.
