The golf courses in Lancashire immediately provoke images of the superb championship links golf courses at Royal Lytham, and St. Annes Old Links, but there are a number of other fantastic golf courses in Lancashire that deserve equal praise. The golf course was opened in 1925 having been designed by the famous golf course architect Dr Alister MacKenzie who also designed such well known Courses as Royal Melbourne, Cypress Point and Augusta National, home to the US Masters. The course is an undulating parkland layout with a variety of natural hazards, dykes and grassy swales to negotiate as well as carefully placed bunkers. It is a Course that requires thought as well as skill to be able to walk off the 18th with a good score. In June 2010 the Course joined our Mack Golf Group; and we have set about upgrading the Course where necessary and promoting Junior and Ladies golf.

The course is an unusual blend of links and parkland which is relatively flat.
