Course Improvements Completed At Piltdown Golf Club

Over the last 2 years £400,000 has been invested into re-laying the greens at Piltdown Golf Club, East Sussex, with a view towards superior drainage and year round play.

The club is delighted to announce that these course changes and improvements have now been completed.

Whilst the work was being carried out, Director of Greens at Piltdown Golf Club, Mr Philip Russell-Vick, also took the opportunity to make some course design changes that included the remodelling of some greens, adding some strategically placed heather topped banks, and implementing innovative run off areas around the greens.

Piltdown club members have made no secret of their excitement about the changes, and the outlook for the future is very positive.

General Manager Phil Bonsall said “The golf industry is very competitive at the moment, and we know we have to offer the best possible experience to our members and guests all year round.

Our catering and hospitality has always been the envy of many, and we needed to improve the greens to make them playable all year round. This is now complete, and the fact that we have invested over £400,000 into the course, and built a new driving range with state of the art teaching facilities whilst the majority of other Clubs are making cutbacks shows just how serious we are.”

He continued, “It has been a tough couple of years managing the expectations of golfers, especially visitors whilst the course work was going on, but I believe it will all prove worthwhile as we are now in an extremely strong position for the future.”
