A Message From Justin Rose
What a weekend! I am delighted to have pulled through to record my first win of the season at Congressional. The golf course was very tough and much like a US Open set up. My aim was to stay patient, which I managed to do, although I needed a couple of clutch putts on 17 and 18 to make the playoff. I am delighted to have won on such a tough course and am proud to have added Congressional to the list of courses I have won on. It was also special to have Kate, Leo and Lotte at the event, meaning I was able to celebrate with them which was wonderful. I know there was a busy weekend at Goodwood with the Festival of Speed. Some of my good friends attended on Saturday and said how great it was. I hope to try and get there next year and maybe get to drive the hill climb!
I was pleased with my defence of the US Open at Pinehurst No.2, and to bounce back and win my next tournament gives me great confidence as I start my Open preparations. I am playing in the Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen next week. Usually I take a week off before a major, but my team and I feel the experience of playing links golf will help in the preparations for Hoylake.
It was great to visit Golf At Goodwood again before the PGA Championship. I was amazed at the quality of shots the juniors hit in front of the members at the clinic. To have such ability at their age is amazing. It’s great to see the work being done to encourage the Juniors and in Marco, Toby and Holly they have a great team to show what can be achieved. I shall continue to follow the progress of ‘Team Goodwood’ through the year and hopefully more victories will be forthcoming!
My day on the Friday with British Airways and Zurich was also fabulous. I received huge amounts of praise at the way in which the team delivered the day and everyone enjoyed the wonderful food, service and atmosphere that is created at The Kennels. A big thank you to all for making it such a great success.
I’d also like to thank everyone for your continued support. It couldn’t be more motivational for me as a golfer to know I have so many fantastic fans behind me.
