The Belfry Receives Golf Tourism’s Higest Accolade By Being Named As England’s Best Golf Hotel

The world’s only 4-time Ryder Cup host, The Belfry Hotel and Resort, has once again shone on the global stage by winning the award for England’s Best Golf Resort at the inaugural World Golf Awards. The resort fought off competition from some of the country’s leading resorts to reaffirm itself as the nation’s best golf escape.

This accolade caps off an outstanding year for the iconic resort which has already achieved critical acclaim from the industry following the £26 million investment earlier this year, which included taking the top honours at the annual 59Club Awards, where it was crowned ‘The Ultimate Golf Resort 2014’ as well as receiving the coveted ‘Gold Award’.

These major renovations aligned the hotel and spa facilities with the world class golf on offer across the legendary Brabazon, PGA National and Derby courses. From the fully refurbished bedrooms, to the new restaurants and bars providing gastronomic excellence, the new-look resort delivers on a superb experience for all guests.

The World Golf Awards celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world class courses and golf destinations from across the globe. They sit as part of the World Travel Awards, striving to raise golf customer experiences, and are voted for by industry leaders, including senior executives, tour operators and agents, as well as golfers worldwide to provide the gold standard in global golf tourism.

Chris Frost, Managing Director, World Golf Awards, commented: “We created the World Golf Awards in order to recognise excellence across the golf travel industry, from golf resorts, to courses, and tour operators. We want to emulate the standing of the World Travel Awards, which has been running for 21 years, and provide the ultimate gold standard for any leading golf resort or destination. Following the major investments at The Belfry, it has certainly proven itself to be back amongst the world’s best and has been a big hit with everyone across the industry.”

Director of Golf, Ian Knox, expressed his delight at the resorts success: “To once again receive such an accolade from key individuals within the industry, as well as the regular golfing consumers, is a fantastic honour for everyone. It is a well-deserved achievement for everyone in the team, from the starters to the greenkeepers who work tirelessly to provide the best possible experience for our guests.

“We are proud of our history and heritage within the game of golf and we now have facilities to position us amongst the best in the world. It’s great to be aligned with the world’s best golf resorts and we must continue to work hard to ensure that we meet the exacting standards of every visitor and guest.”
