Foxhills Course A New Entry Into England’s Top 100 Golf Courses
Longcross, one of two world-class 18 hole golf courses at Surrey’s leading golf and spa resort, Foxhills, has been named in the top 100 golf courses in England.
The list – compiled by Golf World, one of the world’s most authoritative golf magazines – ranked courses on strategic merit, presentation, memorable holes, playability, consistency of test and visual appeal.
One of only six new entries to the prestigious list, Longcross was cited by the magazine’s panellists for being “a class act”. The course is praised for “beautifully combining challenge and charm, with a serious test of 6,750 yards being softened by the aesthetic charm of a course that is routed through Scots pine, beech and silver birch trees.”
The resort’s Bernard Hunt course was named in the magazine’s Next 100 list with panellists stating “There is a lot of discussion as to which of the Foxhills courses is the best. Both have improved enormously over recent years and both have superb greens and many top holes.”
Jason Adams, General Manager at Foxhills, says: “The team has put in a lot of effort over the last few years to raise the standard of the courses and services including tree clearing, improved drainage, new tees and a new golf shop. This is tremendous recognition for all their hard work.”
Chris Reeve, Golf Operations Manager at Foxhills, says: “This is the first time either course has been in the top 100 and it’s a very proud achievement for myself and the team. Whether tackling Longcross or the Bernard Hunt course, we’re delighted to be able to offer members and guests two of the country’s top courses.”
Golf memberships at Foxhills start from £1,260 a year, excluding joining fee. For more information call +44 (0)1932 704 450 or visit www.foxhills.co.uk.
