Maverston’s Season Closing Event Raises Over £1,600 For Poppy Scotland

Maverston Golf Course has raised more than £1,600 for the Poppy Scotland charity during its season closing event. The competition took place at the Morayshire based golf course with 23 teams and more than 70 competitors participating in the charity Tri-Am event.

Sean Blacklaw, Club Manager of Maverston, said: “I am delighted with the outcome of the event and greatly appreciate the efforts of everyone who participated over the weekend. Due to the success of this season closing event, I am pleased to say that we have decided to make this competition an annual fixture and continue to work with and support the Poppy Scotland Charity.”

Danny Streames, Regional Fundraiser for the North of Scotland for Poppy Scotland, commented: “I can’t thank Sean and his team at Maverston GC enough for the preparation of the course and the support given to everyone involved in making this new event on the fundraising calendar such a success.  I very much look forward to building on the success of this event and planning has already started for October 2017.”

With teams coming from across the Morayshire, Highlands and Banffshire regions there was plenty competition on the day. Ultimately, Team George (Bob Alexander, Kenneth Girvin and Alexander Christie) from Maverston Golf Club won the competition with a fantastic score of 58 and were crowned champions on the day.

Planning for next year’s event has already began with a date to be confirmed for the event in the coming weeks.
