Pyrford’s Record-Breaking Year Raises £13k For Local Charity

Generous golfers at Pyrford Golf Club, near Woking in Surrey, have raised a record-breaking amount, in the club’s most successful charity fundraising year in memory. Last week the club donated a cheque for £13,000 to Mike Hey at Shooting Star Chase, the club’s official charity for 2014. The club’s Men’s, Ladies’ and Seniors’ Captains joined forces this year to urge all Pyrford GC members and visitors to raise money for the hospice charity, which cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Hear the words ‘Lingfield Park’ and you’re more likely to think of horse racing than golf.  But for anyone who hasn’t played the championship Surrey golf course, it’s worth highlighting that this tight, undulating parkland layout has regularly hosted the Surrey PGA and Europro Tour, which serves as a testament to its quality.
