Hever Castle Professional Raises Coaching Bar, Whilst Club Member, JJ Grey, Storms America

Hever Castle Golf Club Head Professional, Peter Parks has become one of the first professionals in Kent to achieve the ASQ Level 3 qualification in Golf Coaching.

Peter has been a professional at Hever Castle since 1992 and as well as performing the normal head pro duties he also runs Castle Golf School, which consists of 4 PGA Coaches and delivers coaching to members and visitors of all ages and abilities.

The Level 3 qualification requires coaches to take a close look at their coaching philosophies, sit additional swing exams and have real life lessons reviewed by an assessor. It also looks in greater detail the coaches role in planning, implementing, analysing and revising annual coaching programmes of golfers of varying abilities.

Peter commented: “The Level 3 qualification has been a very worthwhile process. As coaches it is important to constantly review and reflect on what we do and why we do it, so that we can help our players in the most effective way. The process has helped me become a better coach and some of the lessons I have learned throughout the past 2 years study will be used within the future coaching programmes we offer here at Hever Castle.”

He led the team (known as The Panthers) with three top-two finishes in four tournaments during the month, and also won the prestigious Southern Intercollegiate, while finishing second at the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner, and the Furman Intercollegiate this past weekend.

Grey shot par or better in 9 of 11 rounds during March and never shot worse than 74. He previously earned Sun Belt Golfer of the Month in Oct. 2012, March 2013 and April 2014, and is now ranked No. 156 by Golfweek.
