The Vale Resort Invests £500,000 Into Bedroom Refurbishment

The Vale Resort in Hensol, south Wales, is investing half a million pounds in upgrading 140 of its 143 luxury bedrooms on the back of a record-breaking year.

In 2017, the Vale Resort hit a record occupancy rate of 84 per cent, beating the previous high in 2016 of 81.2 per cent. The five month refurbishment programme of its bedrooms comes as part of a strategic development plan to ensure the resort retains its reputation of being at the high end of the four-star hotel rating.

The renovation is from top to bottom of each bedroom – from replacing the carpets and underlays to refitting all of the lights with LED, energy efficient bulbs. It has involved 5,500 square metres of bedroom carpet; 2,500 square metres of hallway carpet that has been made specifically for the Vale Resort; 250 rolls of feature wallpaper and new beds throughout.

In order to minimise disruption within the hotel, the refurbishment team has worked closely with reservations to ensure the upgrades worked around the hotel’s current occupancy.

Paul Beddoe, sales and marketing director at the Vale Resort, said: “Last year was a record year for the Vale Resort, thanks to some of the spectacular events taking place in the city including the UEFA Champions League, British Senior Open and ICC Cricket World Cup. This year, we wanted to take stock to ensure that we reinvested in the resort’s infrastructure to enable us to maintain the highest standards that guests have come to expect from us.

“Three suites were upgraded just two years ago, so we’ve been focusing on the remaining lion share of our bedrooms. The final element of the renovation programme will be upgrading a number of our 13 function rooms and conference facilities, which will take place later this year.”

The Vale Resort is continually investing in its facilities to make sure they are of the highest quality. Last year, it invested £400,000 in an extensive upgrade of its gym facilities, adding the latest fitness equipment to its cardio and free weight areas and installing state-of-the-art digital technology across all machines.
